“ Vitebsk is Marc Chagall's city”

The open-air takes place in the native city of the venerated master.
Chagall and Vitebsk have been so deeply rooted in history that it's now difficult if sometimes impossible to break this invisible link between the genius creator and the native city.

As an artist, Chagall was shaped in Vitebsk . It is in Vitebsk that Mark Chagall established national art college in 1918.

The opening of the school gave an impetus to fostering the new artistic environment, created by colleagues and friends of Mark Chagall: K. Malevich, V. Eromolaeva, L. Lisickij, N. Suetin, I. Chashnik, L. Hidekel, L. Yudin, etc. It is this group of artists that created the unique phenomenon in the history of arts, referred to nowadays as Vitebsk renaissance.

Open-air organizers : “Belarusian Association of UNESCO clubs” Republican NGO, Marc Chagall museum, Vitebsk Chagall committee, Travel Agency “Ilva”, Cultural association “Prometei”, Center of aesthetic education “Maladik”, Vitebsk city executive committee.

The open-air objectives.

Cultural action directed at getting familiar with the motherland of Marc Chagall, the great artist of the 20 th century.
Enhancing international cultural links.
Interchanging achievements and experiences of gifted children and youth, participants from various European countries.
Finding and encouraging young talented artists.
 Popularizing works of young artists.
 Interesting and useful leisure during holiday time.
 Getting familiar with the cultural-historical heritage of the Pridvinje region.

The open-air participation.
-composition- pupils and students, participants of study groups, fine arts studios, art schools and specialized universities
The open-air participants should have a painter's case, paints, paper, and a small chair.
All travel, accommodation and meals expenses are covered by participants.

Awards ceremony.
The open-air participants are awarded with diplomas and multimedia discs.

The open-air program.

Day 1
-  Meeting the participants, accommodating.
-  Vitebsk city tour : Millennium square, the church of the Annunciation, old city, Uspenskaya hill, the town hall, ensemble of the town hall square, Svoboda square, Pushkin monument, St. Pokrovski cathedral, Pobeda square.

Day 2
- Ceremonial opening of the International children's and youth open-air in Vitebsk .
- Visiting memorial house museum of Mark Chagall .
- Open-air in the streets of the old town. Master class.
- Evening cultural and entertaining program.

Day 3
-  Visiting Marc Chagall art center . Viewing the exposition.
-  Lecture-presentation: “ Vitebsk is Marc Chagall's city”

Day 4

-  A visit to Zdravnevo, a country estate of the Russian artist Ilja Efimovich Repin .
-  Visiting I. E. Repin's house museum.
-  Open-air in the picturesque places of the Pridvinje region. Master class.
-  Evening cultural and entertaining program.

Day 5
-  Participating in the ceremonial opening of the XV International Chagall days in Vitebsk .
- Open-air in Pokrovskaja Street , where Marc Chagall lived in the beginning of the 20 th century. Master class.

Day 6
-  The open-air participants make final paintings .
-  “Visiting Mark and Bella ” celebration in Pokrovskaja Street on Chagall's birthday .
-  Evening cultural and entertaining program.

Day 7
-  Leisure time, setting up the exposition .
- Departure to Polotsk-the oldest city of ancient Slavs .
- City sightseeing tour (the lower castle with a defensive rampart of Ivan the Terrible, set of buildings of the former Jesuit collegiums – academy- of the military school, Epiphany cathedral – architecture monument of the 18 th century, the house of Peter the Great, the ancient settlement, Krasnyj bridge, a memorial to the printing pioneer F. Skorina, etc.)

- Visiting the Upper castle and Sofijsky cathedral , the gem of the ancient Russian architecture (11 th century).
- A visit to the functioning Spaso-Efrosinja cathedral (12 th century).

Day 8
-  Ceremonial opening of the exposition of the open-air participants .
-  Press-conference, round table.
-  Awards ceremony .

Cost
145 Euros for participants from Russia and CIS
250 Euros for participants from Eastern and Western Europe .
Participation fee - 10 Euros

The cost includes:
7 nights in a hotel;
3 meals a day; program trips;
Museums entrance tickets; train station-hotel-train station pick up
